it was not your fault but mine, and it was your heart on the line, and i really fucked it up this time, didn't i dear?

ugh, work has been brutal the past couple of weeks. can't seem to get ahead and anything that could go wrong has.

not the end of the world but stressful nonetheless. i did have an awesome review last week though. and i'm sitting in on a huge project (HST stuff) which is cool. I also have a management course next weekend "human relations".

Jay and I are supposed to go to Wilco this Monday night but I lost the tickets...apparently i can call ticket master and most likely get replacements so i had better get on that. i can't believe i lost the tickets. i put them in the cupboard months ago when they came in, never even opened the envelop and somehow they have disappeared...

i filed our 2009 tax returns tonight. i love Quick-Tax. if i can do my taxes using it, anyone can. i'm getting a decent return thanks to the home reno tax credit and daycare costs but not as much as i would have liked because i was on EI for over half the year and they don't take enough tax off. Jay actually owes $32. but our money all goes into one pot anyway.

looking forward to buying some new spring clothes though!

i wouldn't ask this of you

felt like a busy weekend.

went to Susan's on Friday night for "fat pants Friday" which is basically a bunch of girls hanging in track pants eating not good for you food and drinking wine. how awesome is that.

Saturday I met Chantal and Danielle for brunch (Chantal was in town for the weekend) which was nice. great to catch up and its nice to know that with some friends, some things never change. you can just pick right up where you left off.

After brunch I came home, grabbed Nate and headed out to do groceries. then it was dinner and kids to bed and then Jay and I just watched a movie (Star Trek 2009 - it was mediocre at best).

Today I had planned on going to church but we all have a serious case of the sniffles and or sore throats so I didn't think it was wise to be around others. plus, Nate is having poop issues again though we are having successes with the potty, i.e. he will actually tell us when he needs to pee. i can't wait until he is completely out of diapers. that will save about $50 a month right there.

I managed to get the entire house vacuumed, kitchen and bathrooms mopped, toilets cleaned etc.

Nate and I spent some time in the back yard too. Its been so nice and mild lately.

I'm watching speed skating right now. we're not doing much owning the podium...Chris del Bosco's fall this aft was heartbreaking.

I have a feeling that as long as we win hockey, nothing else will really matter anyway.

time for some ice-cream.

re-track the footsteps that brought us to this favour

Jay's at a work thing tonight. i'm watching the game and being very lazy after a brutal day at work.

i see we got another gold medal. yay.

i also see that there seems to be a very common thread between our Canadian athletes. they all seem to have GIANT teeth. i wonder if there is some sort of genetic trait regarding athleticism and giant teeth, sort of like giant head equals celebrity.

well the game is 2-2 which means i will now get too nervous to watch.

thankfully tomorrow is Friday and I have a much needed girls night to look forward to.

she practices her speech as he opens the door

i've decided to quit work and start training to be the next snowboard cross champion.

kidding of course but darn that sport looks fun.

oh, life could be a dream

currently watching Cars for about the 5 billionth time.

went to Deacon for the weekend. kids had fun but Mags did not want to sleep until finally i gave up and slept in her room and Nate fell out of bed and busted his lip.

came back early yesterday.

watched Alex Bilodeau win the gold last night, actually, I've seen all three medal worthy performances live. exciting for sure. especially to stick it to that smug Begg-Smith guy whom admittedly i didn't know existed until they did a piece on him painting him as the villain before-hand. guess it worked! he's not exactly hard to hate though.

its "family" day but Jay has to work. i think its the dumbest holiday. i should be thankful for a day with the kids but i have a feeling we'll just end up stir-crazy because Nate doesn't seem to want to do anything but watch Cars over and over and over again.

Maybe i'll get them out for a walk later.

sorry bout the phone call, and needing you some things you just can't fake

recently i was discussing with a colleague why i found the winter Olympics more exciting than the summer Olympics and I actually said something along the lines of there's a possibility of someone dying.

what i meant by that was that the sports are what i would consider more extreme. its not just about sport its about survival.

unfortunately today that possibility came true and someone did die.

they actually still have video of the accident on the CTV website. its rather disturbing, a) that they still have it up and b) the actual video itself, which i watched out of morbid fascination.

he's at the top alive and well and a minute and some seconds later he's flying into a steel beam and so very clearly immediately dead. the finality of it, the speed of it, its astonishing. and no, i don't recommend you watch it.

and so i'll pour myself the stiffest drink my stomach can stand

ugh, most miserable couple of days.

Superbowl Sunday, everything was going great. I noticed that I wasn't totally feeling the tacos but figured it was because I had just watched some particularly gross episodes of Hoarders.

By 6:45 I was curled up in fetal position on the floor. By 7:30 I was puking up tacos. So not pleasant. I hate puking. I mean, I don't know that there are many people who enjoy it but it pretty much sends shivers down my spine. And so the rest of the night went like this, puke, feel ok for an hour or so, repeat. The best part was, well, i won't get into that but lets just say there was a toilet and a bucket involved.

It went on until about 2:00am.

In the morning I took the kids to daycare, came home and slept until noon when I got the inevitable call from daycare - Mags is puking etc. At this point I was barely functioning. Yesterday was the hardest 6 hours I've gone through in a long time. I've said it before and I'll say it again, nothing sucks harder than taking care of sick kids when you yourself are sick.

And of course, the timing could not have been more perfect, Jay left yesterday on a business trip so I was left to deal with this on my own. Hardcore suckdom.

By last night things were getting better though, I even managed some food and Mags slept mostly ok. Nate woke up a couple times with nightmares (pretty sure he was missing Daddy). So it was not a great night but I did manage to get some sleep.

Against my better judgement I tried to take them to daycare this morning but she mistook Nate's laxative laced poop for the runs and sent them home. Though in fairness it was probably a good idea since I think I've already infected her husband by taking Maggie there yesterday.

Hopefully things will be back to normal tomorrow. At least it was a short-lived bug.

I've spent most of today disinfecting everything with lysol wipes and the wash machine has been going non-stop.

Well, Mags is up from her nap...

all the gold, and the guns, in the world

ah, Superbowl Sunday.

currently enjoying some quiet time. Mags is napping and Nate and Jay are at the Sens skills competition.

house is relatively clean. gave the bathroom a long overdue super scrubbing. and wiped down some of the more obvious dirt spots on the walls.

i used to be so anal about having a clean and orderly house. kids have changed that. now its kind of like, well as long as my feet don't actually stick to the floor its ok.

well, time to get a snack and put my feet up for a bit.

Go Colts!

i found my will in your arms

busy day again, one of my colleagues is on vacation, the other is off for personal reasons (her sister is terminally ill) so there's just Jo and i. we're managing but thank goodness its Friday tomorrow.

its only 8:30 and i could totally go to bed right now.

there's no beginning to this story, a bookshelf sinks into the sand

so apparently the little rodents known as groundhogs have predicted 6 more weeks of winter. since spring technically doesn't start until March 20 this is pretty much bang on. amazing how they do that! seriously, maybe it doesn't apply much in other parts of the country but here in Ottawa it's pretty much winter until Easter and even then it's iffy.

Lost tonight - thank goodness for distraction.
